Little Nicole was fighting for her life from the day she was born. She suffered from a terrifying rare condition called omphalocele, in which the organs develop outside of the body. While it was too much for Nicole’s biological parents to take — they left her in state custody — her nurse Amber Boyd fell in love with her. She spent 18 months caring for the little girl in a New Mexico hospital and formed a bond with her.
